GDI is a global infrastructure company that provides clean tech products and services to fast growth emerging markets.  GDI manufactures and distributes technologies that solve buildings, road, water, and energy challenges for developing companies.  GDI focuses on proven technologies that are durable, cost effective, quicker and easier to implement, and not harmful to the environment.  Clients include domestic and multinational resource firms (e.g. agriculture, oil & gas, mining), property developers, housing and road contractors, donors and civil society organizations, educational institutions, and public sector agencies.

GDI’s growing technology portfolio is divided into four areas: (i) vertical infrastructure (e.g. building materials for residential and commercial structures); (ii) horizontal infrastructure (e.g. roads, railroad beds, runways, foundations); (iii) water and sewer management systems (e.g. water recycling, wastewater and sewage treatment); and (iv) renewable energy. Vertical infrastructure includes polyurethane ICFs, stabilized compressed earth bricks and coatings for housing, schools, and other commercial and community buildings. Horizontal infrastructure comprises soil stabilization for roads, railroad beds, building foundations and similar structures. Water and energy refer to water and waste water management and renewable energy systems for industrial, commercial and municipal purposes.

Our goal is to help our clients solve their social, economic, political and environmental challenges through providing, “better, faster, greener, and less expensive” infrastructure technology solutions, while at the same time emphasizing local capacity building, job creation, sustainability, and the use of rapid construction methodologies. Our approach is predicated on a deep understanding of cultural heritage and social norms, stakeholder engagement from the onset, and sustainability through local private sector development.

Traditional infrastructure and construction materials and methods, which in many cases haven’t changed in generations, yield inconsistent quality, long delays, tremendous waste, and high lifecycle costs. Emerging markets around the world are quickly becoming more aware of the need for better physical and social infrastructure such as urban and rural housing, schools, hospitals, strong and safe roads, clean water supply, and efficient waste management. They also understand the importance of a safe and stable working environment for foreign investors, up skilling of the workforce for permanent jobs, and environmental responsibility.

Fast growth segments in the developed world, such as the oil and gas industry in the United States, face many of the same challenges including accommodation for workers, road development, and water treatment and waste water management. As in the developing world, there is an urgent demand for solutions that are socially, politically, environmentally, and commercially viable.
